Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup company announced today it has been awarded a contract to support the United States Army Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasure Program (ATIRCM).
The Program is contracted through Cargo PM to support the installation of aircraft survivability equipment on new CH-47F aircraft. Summit Aviation will modify up 150 aircraft. The ATIRCM Equipment is a laser based anti-missile defense system. The contract includes having Summit Aviation incorporate the structural and avionic components of the system utilizing customer provided Modification Work Order and engineering. Once the structural and avionic components of the system are permanently installed on the aircraft, the laser equipment is temporarily installed for live fire testing of the laser system.
“We are excited to be able to contribute to this important Program,” said Summit Aviation’s Director of Government and Defense Services Wesley Schroeder. “Our facility is set up to fully support the installation of the needed equipment along with the systems live laser testing to ensure proper functioning.”
Once the aircraft installation and scheduled maintenance is completed the aircraft is delivered to the gaining Unit.
